Inter Milan have had a €15m offer for Emi Martinez rejected by Aston Villa, but plan to come in with an improved bid.
This according to Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, who reported in a tweet that the Nerazzurri are making an effort to sign the 30-year-old Argentine international as they search for a goalkeeper to replace Andre Onana.
With Andre Onana having joined Manchester United, Inter’s search for a new goalkeeper is in full swing.
Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer is one player who the Nerazzurri have been pushing to sign in recent weeks. Anatoliy Trubin is another, although they are miles apart from Shakhtar Donetsk on a fee.
However, according to Argentine journalist Edul, another name has emerged on Inter’s list.
He claims that the Nerazzurri have already made an initial bid to Premier League club Villa for Martinez. He reports that the fee they have offered is around €15 million.
Villa, Edul goes on, have rejected that initial offer.
However, he also reports that the Nerazzurri are ready to make a higher offer soon.
Inter Milan Also In Contact With Entourage Of Emi Martinez
According to Edul, Inter are not only in contact with Villa. They are also, he reports, in talks with the entourage of Martinez.
He explains that, as of yet, Inter have not managed to secure an agreement with the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
However, Edul expects that the Nerazzurri are making a serious effort to sign the player.
He states that “Inter Milan have made an offer for Emi Martinez, and they’re ready to try and sign him.”
“They’ve already offered €15 million, which Aston Villa rejected,” he continues.
“Now they’re planning to make a higher offer.”
“But for the time being, there’s no agreement,” Edul states.
“They have already been in contact with his entourage,” he notes.
“For now, the player is participating in Aston Villa’s preseason.”
