Inter Milan are aiming to make four more signings before the summer transfer window closes.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri directors will meet in Japan this weekend to discuss the club’s strategy in the market as they aim to wrap up their summer business.
Inter are in Japan where they are already getting ready to play their summer friendlies.
The squad is back in training, and things are well underway. Several new additions have already arrived and are starting to integrate with their teammates.
However, the work in the transfer market isn’t even close to being done. According to Sky, the minimum number of signings that Inter will make over the coming weeks is four.
The Nerazzurri need a goalkeeper, a defender, a box-to-box midfielder, and a striker. This will be necessary to reinforce the spine of the team.
Inter Want To Sign Sommer ASAP – Then Move For Other Targets
The first target Inter will go after is Bayern Munich keeper Yann Sommer.
The Nerazzurri have been hovering over the 34-year-old for a couple weeks now. They have identified him as the man to replace Andre Onana in goal after the Cameroonian’s departure to join Manchester United.
Talks with Bayern are underway, and are quite advanced. Moreover, the player is keen to join.
It looks to only be a question of when Sommer joins the Nerazzurri, and for what fee. Inter don’t want to pay the full €6 million release clause for the Swiss international.
In any event, Sky reports, Inter are still aiming to wrap up a deal for Sommer as early as this week.
For the other signings, however, it’s a different story.
Inter do have some clear targets in attack – Folarin Balogun, Alvaro Morata, and Gianluca Scamacca. However, Sky reports, a decisive move for one of these is not exactly imminent.
That is because Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio will only be in Japan this weekend. There, he will meet with the other club directors and with coach Simone Inzaghi.
The club will collectively decide which striker to go for, and then make their move.
The same is true in terms of signing one more midfielder, and signing a defender to replace Milan Skriniar.
There is no doubt that the Nerazzurri will make a signing in all of these positions. However, they’re not going to rush into anything.
This weekend’s meeting should be decisive in determining the strategy across all the remaining positions that Inter have to fill.
