Inter Milan legend Evaristo Beccalossi reveals a rather humorous story involving him and a teammate during the club’s Japan tour back in 1981.

Simone Inzaghi’s men took the flight to the Land of the Rising Sun for a pre-season tour. This will involve two friendly tests; the first against Al-Nassr in Osaka (July 27th) and the second against Paris Saint-Germain in Tokyo (August 1st).

The tour should also involve some promotional activities and various events. However, Inzaghi will be hoping that his men maintain professional behavior and stay away from unnecessary trouble.

In other words, the management wouldn’t want the current crop to replicate the misadventures of Beccalossi and company. The 67-year-old was a Nerazzurri player between 1978 and 1985.

The former midfielder was part of the Inter squad that took the flight to Japan in 1981 to participate in the fourth edition of the Krin Cup.

When the squad first landed in the Far East, Beccalossi and his legendary teammate Alessandro Altobelli decided to go off the rails.

The two Italian stars were eager to check out Tokyo on their own, so they immediately planned their own “tour”.

While Beccalossi didn’t discuss the details of the tour – perhaps leaving it to our imagination – he reveals the botched ending, with the duo unable to find their way back to the right hotel.

“As soon as we landed, Altobelli and I went for a tour to see Tokyo,” says the former Inter star in an interview with Tuttosport via FcInterNews.

“However, finding our way back to the hotel was a feat on its own!

“We told the taxi driver the name of the hotel, but only later found out that it was a chain.

“So we had to go through four of them before finding the right one.”

Needless to say, the late Eugenio Bersellini – who was the club’s head coach at the time – wasn’t pleased with the duo’s demeanor.

“Bersellini was waiting for us at the entrance, not very happy with our delay”.

So while Beccaloni and Altobelli had to rely on Lady Luck to find their way to the correct hotel, you can also test your fortune at https://energycasino.com/fi/slots/fire-joker and play exciting online casino games.

Nowadays, Japan has cemented itself as a true footballing nation. But back in the day, Beccaloni reveals how Baseball was a more popular game in the country, at least based on his own observation.

“People already knew our names, but the real passion was baseball.

“Small diamonds had been built on the roof of several skyscrapers protected by very high nets to prevent the balls from falling down.

“And some pitches where we played were bald in many places because they were actually used for baseball”.
