Bayern Munich have asked Inter Milan for more patience in getting a deal for goalkeeper Yann Sommer wrapped up.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that the Bavarians continue to ask the Nerazzurri for more time to sort out their own goalkeeping situation before they go ahead with a transfer of Sommer.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

The sense has long been that the move will happen sooner or later. But Bayern have been hesitant to pull the trigger before signing a replacement for Sommer who can deputize for Neuer whilst their captain’s fitness is still a question mark.

Bayern Munich Still Asking For More Time On Yann Sommer Deal

If Inter are hoping to get a deal for Sommer over the line very soon, that’s not quite Bayern’s intention.

As ever, the Bavarians are keen to sign a replacement before selling the former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper.

The latest names to emerge on Bayern’s shortlist are Juventus goalkeeper Wojcech Szczesny and ex-Manchester United man David De Gea.

But for now, the Bavarians still only have Sommer and the injured Neuer on hand.

As such, Sommer started for Bayern in today’s friendly match against Manchester City.

From the German champions’ perspective, they have little alternative to continuing to rely on the Swiss international.

So Bayern are asking Inter for continued patience. The sense that the deal will happen sooner or later has not really changed. But Bayern don’t want it to be just yet.
