Inter Milan are pushing to wrap up a deal to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer over the coming 24-48 hours.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are hoping Bayern finally accept the inevitable and sanction a deal for the 34-year-old within the next day or so.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

The sense has long been that the move will happen sooner or later. But Bayern have been hesitant to pull the trigger before signing a replacement for Sommer who can deputize for Neuer whilst their captain’s fitness is still a question mark.

Inter Milan Want To Complete Yann Sommer Signing In Japan – Hoping Next 24 Hours Key

According to the Gazzetta, Inter started to think about a 24-48 hour deadline to make Sommer’s arrival official yesterday.

A day has already passed.

Whilst the pressure has increased on all sides in the deal, Sommer remains a Bayern player.

But the Nerazzurri want to get it done now.

The Swiss also wants to join Inter. He has clearly communicated his intentions to Bayern – he wants the Nerazzurri move and has no intention of staying.

Inter will probably make another formal offer of around €4-4.5 million today.

And then, they hope, Bayern will not put up any more resistance and the transfer can go through.
