Inter Milan are on the verge of signing midfielder Lazar Samardzic for Giovanni Fabbian plus cash.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, who report that the Nerazzurri have all but wrapped up an agreement with the Friulani on a deal to sign the 21-year-old former RB Leipzig midfielder for next season.

Inter have been moving fast in talks to sign Samardzic.

The Nerazzurri have been targeting the German-born Serbian international throughout the summer.

First, he was a player who they had seemingly lined up as an alternative target to Davide Frattesi. However, even after wrapping up a deal to sign Frattesi from Sassuolo, the Nerazzuri have continued to work to sign Samardzic.

Reports suggest that the Nerazzuri want to bring the 21-year-old in as midfield depth to replace Roberto Gagliardini.

Bur rather than signing Gagliardini with a low-cost, more experienced option, the Nerazzurri have evidently decided that investing in a younger midfielder with plenty of room to grow was the better option.
