Inter Milan will stick with the “Cathedral” design for their new stadium as they start moving their plans to the Rozzano area.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will keep the existing design in terms of a new stadium, which they plan to have operational for the 2028-29 season.

Inter finally look ready to abandon plans to build a new stadium in place of the San Siro.

Whilst the Nerazzurri and their city rivals AC Milan have been pursuing plans to replace the existing stadium for several years, those plans are now hanging on by a thread.

A possible injunction against tearing down the San Siro would be the final nail in the coffin of their plans.

And for their part, the Rossoneri have already all but given up. By all accounts, their focus has shifted entirely towards building a new stadium in a different area.

Now, Inter are also ready to give up and change their plans as well.

The Nerazzurri are taking important steps to move their plans to the commune of Rozzano.

Inter Milan To Stick With “Cathedral” Design For New Stadium – Construction To Begin 2025

Inter have already obtained the exclusive right to conduct a feasibility study regarding the construction of a new stadium in Rozzano.

And for his part, Rozzano’s Mayor is optimistic that the Nerazzurri won’t meet the same bureaucratic hurdles they have in Milano.

If Inter do finally make the decisive break from San Siro plans, the question would emerge – what will the stadium look like?

But according to the Gazzetta, in that respect the answer is already known. The Nerazzurri already have a design on the docket.

Design firm Populous has already fully designed a stadium called the “Cathedral.”

The firm designed this for Inter and Milan to build jointly. The intention was for it to take the place of the existing San Siro.

However, if the San Siro stays standing and Inter move plans elsewhere, they will take the design with them.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter now plan to build the “Cathedral” in Rozzano.

The newspaper anticipate that 2024 will be the year in which Inter work towards firming up their plans.

Then, in 2025, the club will aim to break ground on construction.

The Nerazzurri are projecting to be playing in the new stadium for the start of the 2028-29 season.
