The city of Milano are still aiming to convince Inter Milan to stay in the San Siro area rather than building elsewhere.

This according to yesterday’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908. The newspaper suggest that the city could try and make a solution involving building a new stadium near the existing one work.

The new stadium situation in Milano is continuing to drag on.

The fact that a definitive injunction against demolishing the existing San Siro has arrived has certainly seemed like a death knell for the prior plans.

Inter and Milan certainly will not be able to build a new stadium in place of the Giuseppe Meazza as long as the injunction is in place.

That has seemingly pushed both clubs further in the direction of moving plans elsewhere.

In the case of the Rossoneri, they have been strongly leaning towards building in the San Donato area for some time.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have taken concrete steps to start building in the comune of Rozzano.

Milano Still Want Inter To Stay In San Siro Area

However, the city of Milano are still hoping that they can keep at least one of the teams within the city proper.

Convincing Milan doesn’t look likely. The Rossoneri lost patience some while ago, and are aggressively pursuing their alternative plans.

However, La Repubblica suggest, the city are still hopeful that they can convince Inter.

The Nerazzurri do have an exclusive right to conduct a feasibility study in Rozzano. Moreover, there are factors which would make those plans convenient for the club.

But Inter are still only just taking relatively early steps in that direction – pulling out at this stage would not be too difficult.

The city of Milano’s hope is that Inter will do just that.

The city is no longer trying to seriously convince the Nerazzurri to stay in the existing San Siro. They’ve accepted that the club are totally opposed to that idea.

However, La Repubblica reports, the city is exploring possible solutions that would allow Inter to build a new, modern stadium nearby.
