Inter Milan are on the verge of signing wingback Carlos Augusto from Monza.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri already have an agreement in place to sign the 24-year-old on loan with a purchase obligation, as he will replace Robin Gosens on their left flank.

Augusto has been a player on Inter’s radar for some time.

The Brazilian is a fairly natural target for the Nerazzurri stylistically speaking. Last season, Augusto made a massive impact playing on the left of Monza’s 3-5-2 system, popping up with six goals and five assists to power the Brianzoli to an impressive midtable finish.

Considering Inter play a similar shape, they took notice of the 24-year-old’s exploits.

The question has always been whether or not Robin Gosens would stay or leave.

As long as the German was in the squad along with Federico Dimarco, there would hardly be a slot open for a player with Augusto’s profile.

But Inter always lined the 24-year-old up for the possible event of Gosens leaving. And now, the German is on the verge of making the switch to Union Berlin – the Nerazzurri have agreed a deal with the German team.

Inter Milan Close To Sealing Carlos Augusto Transfer

According to FCIN, Inter have already had the agreement with Monza in place for some time.

The Nerazzurri have just been waiting to see whether they would sell Gosens or not.

Now that a sale of Gosens looks just on the horizon, FCIN report that Inter are wasting no time in making a deal for Augusto happen.

First, the Brazilian will extend his contract with Monza. Then he will join Inter on loan.

The Nerazzurri will then sign Augusto on a permanent basis next summer for a fee of €13 million plus add-ons.

According to FCIN, the player himself is keen to make the switch. He has already agreed terms with Inter, as he had shown strong interest in the move as soon as the Nerazzurri initially came forward earlier this summer.

Inter beat the likes of Juventus, Fiorentina, Atalanta, and Torino to Augusto’s signature.
