Wingback Robin Gosens has given his goodbye to Inter Milan fans after completing his move to Union Berlin.
The German posted his message to the Nerazzurri fans on his Instagram account, admitting that his time at the club hasn’t worked out as he had hoped, but that it’s still an honour for him to have been an Inter player.
Now it’s official – Gosens has made the switch from Inter to Union Berlin.
Having arrived at the Nerazzurri with big expectations on his shoulders from Atalanta in January of last year, the 29-year-old departs after one and a half seasons at the club.
Gosens never quite managed to replicate his best form from La Dea and the German national team in an Inter shirt.
As he points out, there were several reasons for this.
Injuries curtailing the German from finding his best fitness and form were certainly one. As were the fact that Gosens never cemented a first-choice starting spot for himself.
However, it was still a worthwhile adventure for Gosens, and he has said goodbye on his way out.
Robin Gosens Says Goodbye To Inter Milan
Gosens writes, “Unfortunately, my adventure at Inter ends here.”
“I say unfortunately because I’m sorry to leave this great team without ever having shown the real Robin on the pitch consistently.”
“I really wanted the opportunity to demonstrate my worth this season, because until now I’ve only had a few opportunities to do so.”
“I’ll be the first one to admit it. And I won’t look for excuses.”
“I can only guarantee to you that from the first second I got here I have tried to give everything, every day.”
“Trying to overcome my injuries, trying to improve and give something extra to Inter.”
“Unfortunately, due to many factors, I was never able to do so.”
“And although we all had other expectations, I only felt love and affection here.”
“From my teammates, the fans, the staff and everyone who carries Inter in their hearts.”
“And that ultimately makes me proud, and makes me think I haven’t done all wrong over the last eighteen months.”
“There will be those who say that choosing to go to Inter was the wrong choice for my career.”
“For me that’s not true. I played for one of the biggest teams ever, played in a Champions League final, won trophies, and for eighteen months San Siro was my home.”
“It was only one thing – an honour!”
“Now a new adventure begins for me. Another dream that I can realize.”
“The Bundesliga. My country. For the first time. Thanks for everything Inter. Thanks with all my heart. Robin” .
