Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the Nerazzurri are ready to push for the Serie A title this season.

The Armenian spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN following the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Serie A win over Monza yesterday, via FCInterNews, highlighting the team’s “hunger” and “quality” in the race for the Scudetto.

Whilst Inter have taken plenty of positives from the previous two seasons, there’s been one glaring absence.

The Nerazzurri have yet to repeat the feat of the 2020-21 season, when they captured the Serie A title.

Inter have come very close. In the 2021-22 season, Simone Inzaghi’s first in charge, the Nerazzurri took the title race with AC Milan to the last day of the season.

Last time around, on the other hand, Inter were barely ever in a title race. Champions Napoli finished a whopping points ahead of them.

All of this is made worse by the fact that Inter know that if they do win the Scudetto, it will have a special significance.

The Nerazzurri currently have nineteen Serie A titles in their trophy cabinet. Another one would mean the round number of twenty, and also an additional star on their chests.

Inter Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan: We Can Fight For The Second Star

For his part, Nerazzurri midfielder Mkhitaryan is confident about the team.

“We have a great desire to win that’s remained from the Champions League final,” the 34-year-old said.

“We’ve gained more of a cutting edge, we’re hungry for the second star.”

Mkhitaryan said that “We’re a strong team and we’ll prove it on the pitch. We have a very strong midfield with Calhanoglu, Barella, Frattesi.”

He noted that “Everyone deserves to play in the starting lineup and can give this team a lot. The coach will certainly give everyone playing time, and show us that they deserve to be in this group.”
