Former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez is hoping for a return to Inter Milan this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 34-year-old wants to come in to replace Joaquin Correa at the Nerazzurri, as coach Simone Inzaghi all but gives up on the Argentine.

Inter have already done plenty of business this summer. However, they’re not finished.

The arrival of defender Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich now appears to be on the horizon.

But even after the Frenchman signs, the Nerazzurri may not be finished.

Inter could still make another move in attack. Everything would almost certainly depend on the fate of Correa.

As the Gazzetta notes, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has more or less lost faith in the Argentine.

The fact that Correa did not play in Inter’s Serie A opener against Monza over the weekend was evidence of this fact.

Of course, there would be the question of finding a suitable club to move Correa on to. However, recent reports that there is some interest emerging – Torino, Bournemouth, and Real Betis are all reportedly keen.

Alexis Sanchez Wants Inter Milan – Could Replace Joaquin Correa

Whilst Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi had been virtually the main sponsor of signing Correa in the first place, having worked with the player at Lazio, he no longer sees the forward as reliable.

Therefore, the Gazzetta reports, Inzaghi is hoping that Correa is on his way this summer.

And crucially, the newspaper reports, the coach would not say no to a reunion with Sanchez.

There had been a bit of friction in Sanchez’s final season at Inter. This was mainly the result of the Chilean wanting more playing time than Inzaghi gave him.

However, the Gazzetta reports, Inzaghi would still trust the 34-year-old veteran as an attacking option more than Correa.
