German media have provided confirmation that Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is pushing for a move to Inter Milan.

German tabloid BILD, via FCInterNews, report that the 27-year-old has made no effort to hide his discontent in Bavaria, and that a move to the Nerazzurri now looks to be only a matter of time for him.

Inter have made Pavard their top target in defense.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact. And coach Simone Inzaghi has also admitted that he wants the Frenchman in his squad by the end of the summer transfer window.

The negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Bayern have now been ongoing for the better part of a week.

The Bavarians have turned down Inter’s first couple of bids for the Frenchman.

A key factor has been Bayern’s reluctance to sell an important squad member before they have snapped up a replacement.

But now it looks as though the Germans will cave. They are ready to agree a deal with Inter.

And, as BILD notes, a key factor in Bayern’s increasing willingness to sell Pavard has been the stance of the player himself.

Benjamin Pavard Pushes Bayern To Sell Him To Inter

Pavard’s contract with Bayern runs out at the end of next June.

The French former Stuttgart defender has made clear for some time that he will not be signing an extension.

Pavard does not feel that he has a place in this Bayern team playing in his preferred role.

Throughout the Frenchman’s time in Bavaria, he has mainly played on the right of a back four. On the other hand, the player considers himself to primarily be a centre-back.

Therefore, a move to Inter could tactically suit Pavard.

And according to BILD, the 2018 World Cup winner has made no secret of his desire to leave behind the scenes.

Bayern are in no doubt as to Pavard’s intentions. Therefore, they are ultimately ready to cooperate with Inter in negotiations.

Reports suggest that the 27-year-old’s move to the San Siro is now close at hand.
