Inter Milan defenders Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi are likely to be fit for the Nerazzurri’s upcoming Serie A clash with Cagliari.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Thew newspaper updates on the injury status of the Inter squad ahead of Monday’s match.

In Inter’s first Serie A match of the season against Monza, they missed only one player through injury.

Veteran defender Acerbi was still out with a calf problem.

Therefore, Stefan de Vrij started against the Brianzoli on Saturday. The Dutchman gave a good account of himself, helping the Nerazzurri to a clean sheet.

However, there was no hiding the fact that Inter were a bit thin at the back. This was particularly the case given that Darmian had to come off late with a minor ankle problem.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi acknowledged the 33-year-old’s injury, although he downplayed its seriousness.

Inzgahi also emphasized that the team need a new defensive signing. Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard doesn’t look too far away from joining now.

On Saturday, it was young German defender Yann Bisseck who filled in for Darmian in the closing stages.

Both Darmian & Aerbi Likely To Be Fit For Inter Milan In Cagliari Clash

In any event, the Corrirere report, Darmian should be ready to be back in action for Inter’s next match.

The Nerazzurri travel to Sardinia to face Cagliari on Monday, their second league match of the season.

After Inzaghi gave the squad two days off following the Monza match, they are now back in training.

And according to the Corriere, there is little worry that Darmian will have any recurring fitness problems that would rule him out of facing the Rossoblu.

And Inter could get a further boost in the form of Acerbi’s probable fitness for Monday’s match.

The 35-year-old former Lazio defender also looks as though he should recover in time to play against Cagliari.
