Former Arsenal, Man United, and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez will join Inter Milan on a free transfer on Friday.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 34-year-old will be in Milano for the end of the week to wrap up his return to the Nerazzurri, as Joaquin Correa heads out the exit door to join Marseille.
Sanchez has seemingly been flirting with a move to Inter in recent weeks.
The Chilean reportedly feels that he has unfinished business with the Nerazzurri. Despite the fact that he only left the club via a termination of his contract by mutual consent twelve months ago, Sanchez wants to come back.
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta made no secret of the fact that the 34-year-old has messaged the club.
But a return for Sanchez always looked as though it would be contingent on one thing – Correa leaving.
But in recent days, Inter have accelerated the process of finding a new club for the Argentine.
And now they have found just that. FCIN confirm that the Nerazzurri should seal the 29-year-old’s move to Marseille on an initial loan deal tomorrow.
Alexis Sanchez To Return To Inter Milan This Week – Correa Heads The Other Way
In a bit of an odd twist, Sanchez returns to Inter from Marseille whilst Correa goes the other way.
The Chilean had a very positive season with the Ligue 1 giants. He scored eighteen goals and assisted a further three over the course of the campaign.
According to FCIN, Correa’s agent Alessandro Lucci proposed another of his clients to Inter.
The outlet reports that Lucci suggested Atalanta forward Luis Muriel as a replacement for Correa.
The Colombian looks to be on his way out at La Dea this summer.
But according to FCIN, Inter always made their preference for bringing Sanchez back clear.
The Nerazzurri see re-signing the 34-year-old on a free transfer as an opportunity. They will opt for him rather than signing Muriel.
FCIN report that Sanchez will sign a one-year contract with Inter. This will see him earn €2.5 million net next season, plus add-ons.
