Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has already spoken with Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Frenchman has had initial contacts with the Nerazzurri boss over the phone as he starts to prepare for his new tactical role at a different club.

Inter are closing in on the signing of Pavard.

The 27-year-old is the player who the Nerazzurri have identified to replace Milan Skriniar in defense.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact. And coach Simone Inzaghi has also admitted that he wants the Frenchman in his squad by the end of the summer transfer window.

Inter have been pushing in talks through the past few days.

They have continued to push their offer up, and hoped that the player’s insistence would make the difference.

And now, it’s a done deal. Inter and Bayern have reached a full agreement on a deal for Pavard.

The Nerazzurri will pay a fee of €30 million for the Frenchman. In addition, there are €2 million in potential add-ons.

Benjamin Pavard Speaks With Simone Inzaghi Ahead Of Inter Milan Move

A key factor in Inter landing Pavard has been the player pushing for the move to happen.

The 27-year-old former Stuttgart defender has been clear that he wants to leave Bayern for some time now. He has indicated that he has no intention of signing an extension to his contract which runs out at the end of next June.

The main reason for Pavard’s desire to leave Bayern has been his dissatisfaction with his tactical role at the club.

The Frenchman has played as both a centre-back and a right0back for the German champions.

However, the glut of options in the centre of defense has meant that Pavard has often played on the right. He has always been clear that he does not want to play an attack-minded fullback role.

Therefore, Pavard wants to join a club where he can play as an out-and-out defender.

Inter certainly offer the Frenchman a chance to play in that role. Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will utilize Pavard purely on the right of a back three.

Therefore, the coach has already been speaking with his presumptive new signing.

Pavard is looking forward to getting started in a new role. And he has already begun discussing the change with his soon-to-be new coach,
