Joaquin Correa is one step away from making the move to Marseille from Inter Milan

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Ligue 1 side are close to sealing a loan deal with a purchase option for the 29-year-old Argentine international.

Correa is a player whose future at Inter has looked up in the air for much of the summer.

The Nerazzurri have seemingly been keen to offload the former Lazio forward all window.

Correa is not really a player with a place in Inter’s plans for next season.

This is because the Argentine has failed to ever find his best form in an Inter shirt. Since joining from the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2021, injuries have disrupted his momentum and his performances have been erratic.

The offers have not really arrived for Correa for much of the summer.

But in the last week or so, Inter have reportedly changed their stance on the 29-year-old. The Nerazzurri will listen to loan offers for Correa, rather than only bids to sign him on a permanent transfer.

After that, the offers have really started to arrive for Correa.

Joaquin Correa On The Verge Of Joining Marseille From Inter

According to Di Marzio, Marseille have moved fast to get within touching distance of signing Correa.

The French team have spoken with both the player’s representatives and with Inter.

Di Marzio reports that Marseille and the Nerazzurri are close to reaching a full agreement on a loan deal. Negotiations tomorrow could see them wrap up the deal.

According to Di Marzio, Correa will join the French side on an initial paid loan deal.

Then, there will be a purchase option next summer. This will be for a €15 million fee.

Meanwhile, Di Marzio anticipates, if certain conditions are triggered that purchase option could become a mandatory obligation. He does not say what those conditions are, however.

If the obligation is triggered, however, the fee will drop to €12 million, Di Marzio reports.

If Marseille wrap the deal up, they will beat out the likes of Torino, RB Leipzig, Bournemouth, and Real Betis, to Correa’s signature.
