Referee Michael Fabbri has been appointed to take charge of Monday’s Serie A match between Cagliari and Inter Milan.

The Lega Serie A confirm this in an official announcement of all the refereeing crews for this weekend’s round of fixtures, as reported by FCInterNews.

This weekend, Inter will travel to Sardinia to take on newly-promoted Cagliari. The Nerazzurri will be aiming to build on an impressive 2-0 win over Monza in their opening match of the season.

Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri’s Rossoblu side are aiming to pick up some points early. Their objective will be keeping their spot in Serie A after promotion from the second division.

Cagliari drew their first match of the campaign, away to Torino. They emerged with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Ivan Juric’s Granata team.

The Sardinians’ performance in that match made clear that despite only just returning from Serie B, they will not be a straightforward opponent for the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, Inter will already be feeling the pressure to keep up with title rivals like Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan.

Michel Fabbri To Referee Cagliari Inter Clash – Valerio Marini On VAR

Michael Fabbri will be the head referee in charge of Monday’s match at the Sardegna Arena.

Meanwhile, Luca Mondin and Damiano Di Ioirio will assist Fabbri in his duties.

The role of fourth official will go to Giovanni Ayroldi.

And in the VAR booth Valerio Marini will oversee the match to make sure to correct any errors by the on-pitch officiating crew. Assisting Marini in his duties will be Daniele Longo.

Inter will be hoping that the focus stays on the action on the pitch rather than on any officiating controversy.

The Nerazzurri will aim for three points from a tough away fixture. Last season, matches of this type were exactly where Inter slipped up as they fell behind Napoli at the top.
