Striker Marcus Thuram will start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A match away to Cagliari.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

One thing that looks clear is that striker Lautaro Martinez will start for Inter this evening.

The Argentine’s match-winning brace against Monza last weekend underlined how central he is to the Nerazzurri’s attack.

However, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have some tinkering to do as far as deciding which striker best pairs with his new captain to lead the line.

The coach now has Alexis Sanchez back at his disposal. The Chilean completed his return on a free transfer.

However, Sanchez will not yet be fit in time for this evening’s match.

Therefore, Inzaghi will be deciding between two other summer signings as he makes his starting eleven selection at the Sardegna Arena.

Marcus Thuram To Start For Inter Milan Vs Cagliari

Thuram had been the striker who paired with Martinez from the start in Inter’s Serie A opener against Monza.

This is perhaps not surprising given that the 26-year-old enjoyed a full preseason with the Nerazzurri.

However, recent arrival Arnautovic proved his worth with an impressive cameo in the second half of the match against the Brianzoli.

The Austrian came off the bench and assisted Martinez’s second goal. His appearance was evidence of the physical dimension he can provide as a focal point to the Nerazzurri’s attack, with his holdup play looking sharp.

Therefore, Arnautovic will already be giving Inzaghi some real doubts.

However, the Gazzetta anticipates, the former Bologna, West Ham United, and Stoke City striker will still have to settle for a place on the bench.

Thuram is still likely to be the player who starts the match. Then, Inzaghi could turn to Arnautovic to once again have an impact as a substitute.
