Simone Inzaghi has made clear that he expects the likes of Kristjan Asllani, Davy Klaassen, and Benjamin Pavard to have a role to play.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN following the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 Serie A win over Fiorentina, via FCInterNews, the coach stressed the importance of even the players in his squad who haven’t had the chance to play yet.

Inter’s squad can essentially boast two or more players in every position.

That naturally means that not every player in the squad has seen the pitch so far this season.

Particularly given that Inzaghi has named the same starting eleven in each of the Nerazzurri’s matches so far during the season, there have been a few players who have yet to have the chance to play.

One is young midfielder Asllani. The Albanian had not featured a minute this season until the closing stages this evening.

Meanwhile, both of Klaassen and Pavard only arrived a few days ago. The pair were on the bench against La Viola this evening, but neither had the chance to actually come on to the pitch.

Inzaghi Stresses That Asllani, Klaassen & Pavard Will All Have Their Time To Shine

Of the midfield rotation, Inzaghi said that “Playing for Inter is a big motivation for anyone.”

“For as long as we’ve just been playing once a week, I’ve stuck with the same eleven,” the coach noted “But going forward I’m going to need everyone.”

“After the break, we’ll also have Acerbi, Sanchez, and Sensi,” he continued. “I’ll have more options.”

Inzaghi said that “Klaassen had training session yesterday. He’s a player we know, he’ll give us his contribution.”

“Pavard has had two sessions, and we know how good of a player he is,” Inzaghi continued.

“I wanted to put him on,” the Inter coach said of the Frenchman. “But instead I decided to go with Asllani, because he deserves it and he’s a player that I’m very much relying on.”

Asked if he feels Inter have the deepest squad, Inzaghi replied that “Time will tell.”

“We’ve renewed the squad a lot,” he continued.

“There are 12-13 new players who’ve arrived and brought with them a great hunger to succeed.”

“We’ve also lost some top-level players, but we’ve replaced them with both experienced and younger players,” Inzaghi said.

Praise For Marcus Thuram After Debut Inter Goal

Of striker Marcus Thuram, who scored Inter’s opener, Inzaghi said that “He did very well.”

“I was also a fan of how he played in our other two matches.”

“I wanted him to find the goal,” the coach said of his striker. “So I’m happy.”

“He did well as everyone else did. I’m happy with him.”

Inzaghi also noted that “One thing we did well was show that we were determined not to concede. Not just score goals at the other end.”

“And that was not just down to the defenders, it was down to the entire team.”

As to whether or not Lautaro Martinez can finish the Serie A season as top scorer, Inzaghi replied “We hope so.”

“He has all the qualities he needs to do it.”

“Beyond scoring, it’s great to see the way that he sacrifices for the team,” Inzaghi said of his captain.

“I’m happy with how he’s doing, he just keeps growing and improving,” he said of Martinez.

Inzaghi Looks Ahead To Milan Derby Vs AC Milan

Inter and AC Milan are the only two sides left in Serie A yet to drop points.

And the two are on a collision course, with the Milan derby scheduled for just after the international break.

Inzaghi said that “We know what the derby represents for everyone around the club.”

“Right now, there’s obviously the break for a lot of the players to go to be with their national teams.”

“There will be some players with two matches close together, and long flights,” he noted. “But that’s just how the fixture list is.”

“The guys are happy to go and represent their national teams.”

“We’ll wait for them, and then Saturday will be very soon. We won’t have much time to prepare for it, as is also the case with Milan.”
