Simone Inzaghi has received glowing reviews for masterminding Inter Milan’s 4-0 thrashing of Fiorentina in Serie A.

The player ratings for the match were universally positive, as Italian news outlet L’Intersita highlights.

Inzaghi has now been Inter coach for more than three years.

It has become clear the general style of play that the coach instills in his Nerazzurri team.

That has certainly been on show at the start of this season. Inzaghi continues to set his team up with three defenders and wingbacks.

Leading the line is a strike pair, whilst in midfield the usual trio continues to operate in Inter’s engine room.

However, there is a sense of freshness at the start of this season. That is not necessarily down to the number of new signings – Marcus Thuram has certainly given the team a different dimension in attack, but otherwise all the outfield starters have been players at the club last season.

But in terms of the Nerazzurri’s directness and physical intensity, things look to have ratcheted up.

Simone Inzaghi Lauded For Inter Milan Dominating Fiorentina Without Possession

Against Fiorentina, Inter did not have the majority of the ball.

However, the possession that they did have looked highly incisive.

The Nerazzurri looked to win the ball back and then attack quickly. This either meant winning the ball close to La Viola’s goal, or else finding an incisive route forward.

Inter’s shape and organization enabled them to play a highly aggressive and vertical game against Fiorentina.

It also meant that the Nerazzurri were extremely defensively solid. Keeper Yann Sommer kept his third clean sheet of the season.

Inzaghi showed that for the start of this season, his Inter team are looking as strong as ever.

The Gazzetta dello Sport and L’Interista both gave Inzaghi a score of 7.5/10. Meanwhile, Tuttosport, TuttoMercatoWeb, and the Corriere dello Sport all went one higher, 8/10.
