The Inter Milan squad have gotten top marks across the board following their 4-0 demolition of Fiorentina in Serie A.
The Gazzetta dello Sport name Lautaro Martinez as the Nerazzurri’s man of the match in the player ratings published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews – but every one of his teammates comes in for significant praise as well.
Inter signed off for the first international break of the season in the best way imaginable.
Against an opponent who had beaten them the last time they travelled to the San Siro, the Nerazzurri asserted themselves.
The scoreline was 4-0. If anything, that did not even do justice to the degree of Inter’s dominance.
Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez continued his blazing start to the season in front of goal with a second-half brace. The Gazzetta consider the Argentine worthy of an 8/10 score, not just for his goals but for how he led the team from the front as well.
But Martinez was far from the only Inter player to receive an exceptional grade.
Not Just Lautaro – Top Marks All Around For Inter Milan Squad In Fiorentina Thrashing
Martinez’s strike partner Marcus Thuram received a score just one notch below the Argentine – 7.5/10.
The Frenchman broke his duck in Serie A to score Inter’s opener. And, like Martinez, Thuram gave his team far more than just the goal.
The 26-year-old could have had more goals, and provided Inter with both a threat in behind, and movement and touches that were too swift for the Fiorentina defense.
Then there were 7/10 scores for all of Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Federico Dimarco.
No one got a poor grade – it was virtually a perfect evening for Inter.
And Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi also earned plaudits from the Gazzetta. The newspaper deem the coach worthy of a 7.5/10 grade for masterminding the emphatic victory.
