Inter Milan and AC Milan have both boosted their defensive depth this summer with “revolutions” in the transfer window.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Over the first couple of matches of this season, Inter and Milan have been Serie A’s two outstanding teams.

Both city rivals have won three matches out of three at the start of the campaign. No other side has done so.

This has put reining champions Napoli on notice – particularly after the Partneopei slipped up by losing at home against Lazio going into the international break.

So far, both Inter and Milan have relied on fairly well-worn groups of players.

Both Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi and his Rossoneri counterpart Stefano Pioli have made clear which starting elevens they trust early on.

But just as importantly, Tuttosport note, both derby rivals appear to have the squad depth to keep their early momentum up in the long haul.

Inter & AC Milan Have Deeper Squads Than Ever After Summer Transfer “Revolutions”

For Inter, the fact that they have kept a clean sheet in each of their first three matches is already a very positive signs.

To have done so without big money summer arrival Benjamin Pavard even featuring is all the more impressive. And last season’s most consistent defender, Francesco Acerbi, has been out with injury.

Inter will believe that with the reinforcements that Pavard and Acerbi provide, they can keep their strong defensive starts going.

Meanwhile, the likes of Davide Frattesi, Juan Cuadrado, and Carlos Augusto have barely featured.

But they can certainly give a boost to the Nerazzurri’s direct style of play when the team needs them to.

Meanwhile, the likes of Samuel Chukwueze and Noah Okafor have been bit-part players for Milan so far this season.

And Ismael Bennacer, the Rossoneri’s midfield general, has been out with an injury.

With these player ready in waiting to make a contribution, Tuttosport suggest, Milan as well could be in it for the long haul.
