Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels that Inter Milan are favourites for the Serie A title.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, via FCInter1908, the former Rossoneri coach nevertheless argued that the Nerazzurri have yet to build a “European” mentality in terms of their style of play.

Sacchi has consistently given a somewhat critical view of Inter’s style of play under Simone Inzaghi.

In the view of the former Rossoneri coach, there is no doubting the individual ability of the Nerazzurri. Nor of their ability to dig in their heels and unlock matches.

But in the view of Sacchi, Inter do not play a coordinated or compact pressing game in a way that the absolute elite teams in Europe tend to.

Sacchi Names Inter Milan As Serie A Title Favourites Despite Criticisms

Even in spite of some of his critical views of the Nerazzurri, Sacchi does not hesitate to identify them as title favourites.

Regarding his prediction for the Serie A title winners, Sacchi said “I’d say Inter. Even if only three Serie A matches have been played so far.”

“From what we’ve seen, I think they’re the favourites.”

The former Milan coach noted that “They had an excellent base built already.”

“And despite having lost key players like Brozovic and Lukaku, they’ve added interesting younger players like Frattesi and Thuram.”

So far, Inter have taken nine points from nine in Serie A.

The only other team to have done so are the Nerazzurri’s city rivals AC Milan.

The two teams are on a collision course for after the international break. The Milan derby will be the first match back from the break for both of them.

This early derby clash could already have major implications for the Serie A title race.
