Legendary former Rossoneri defender Alessandro Costacurta feels that at the moment, Inter Milan are a stronger team than AC Milan.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the Milan legend gave the view that the Nerazzurri are the favourites to win the Serie A title this season.

Inter and Milan are the two teams at the top of the Serie A table at the moment.

The city rivals are the only sides to have won three matches from three in the Italian top flight.

Moreover, the two teams’ records are nearly identical.

Inter’s three clean sheets trump Milan’s defensive record – the Rossoneri have conceded two goals in three matches.

But both Milan derby sides have scored eight goals. And both have won their opening league matches in very emphatic fashion.

In the view of former Rossoneri defender Costacurta, however, it is Inter who are nevertheless the better side.

Costacurta: Inter Milan Currently Stronger Than AC Milan, Favourites For Serie A Title

Costacurta said of the Serie A title race that “Inter are the strongest team. After that I’ll say Napoli, then Milan.”

“But keep an eye on Juventus, without European football and with the two strikers they have up top, they can fight for it until the end.”

As for the rivalry between Inter and AC Milan, Costacurta said that “Right now Inter are stronger.”

“The results of the four derbies in 2023 speak for themselves. And at the moment, Inzaghi’s men are further along in terms of having an understanding among themselves.”

“It’s true that both have made a lot of changes,” he continued. “But at the moment the starting eleven at Inter is almost all players who played in the Champions League final a few months ago.”

“Having said that, it’s by no means certain that Inter will still be the better side nine months from now. Milan have built a team that can keep growing.”
