Former Nerazzurri forward Goran Pandev feels that the pressure is on Inter Milan to win the Serie A title this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RDS, via FCInterNews, the North Macedonian named the Nerazzurri as favourites for the Scudetto, and suggested that there will be a sense that now they are all but obliged to go all the way because of that.

In the past couple of seasons under Simone Inzaghi, Inter have achieved plenty.

However, one thing the Nerazzurri have not done in two attempts is win the Serie A title.

Inter have not been able to repeat the feat from the 2020-21 season as of yet. And moreover, this has come despite the fact that many have named them as favourites to do so.

In the 2021-22 campaign, Inzaghi’s first in charge, Inter looked to be in a commanding position in the league table in January.

But a slip-up against AC Milan in the derby followed by a major drop-off in the spring allowed the Rossoneri to pip them to the Serie A title on the final day of the season.

Then last season, many named Inter as preseason title favourites, or certainly right up there.

But the Nerazzurri didn’t even come close to Napoli at the top of the table in the end.

Goran Pandev: Now Inter Milan Have To Win The Second Star

Inter’s start to the season will give the team confidence.

The Nerazzurri have played three and won three in Serie A to open their campaign.

This is certainly a platform on which Inter could go on to win the title. If they can do so, the Nerazzurri can finally sew a second star on their shirts.

Pandev gave the view that “In my opinion, Inter have had a great transfer window.”

“They’re the strongest team in the league,” the North Macedonian said of his old team.

Pandev argued that “This season they have to aim to win the second star.”

“Doing so won’t be easy because the Italian league is tough. There’s Milan who look very strong, Juve who don’t have European competition, and Napoli.”

“Hopefully it will be a great Serie A title race,” the former forward said.

Pandev also noted that “I played with Simone Inzaghi for five and a half years. It’s great to see him doing well.”

“He’s been criticized, but he has proven to be a great man and a great coach,” he said of the Inter boss.
