Inter Milan owned midfielder Gaetano Oristanio is aiming to convince Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri after the international break.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the 20-year-old’s situation in Sardinia.

Young attacking midfielder Oristanio joined Cagliari during the summer transfer window.

The Italian youth team international joined the Rossoblu on loan. However, the Sardinian club have a purchase option on Oristanio, whilst Inter have a buyback option as well.

Oristanio is getting his first experience in Serie A this season.

Having impressed with Inter’s Primavera side, the young midfielder spent the past two seasons in the Netherlands.

Oristanio joined Volendam on loan during the 2021-22 season, along with Filip Stankovic.

When the Nerazzurri-owned midfielder joined Volendam, they were in the Dutch second division, the Eerste Divisie. However, Oristanio and Stankovic helped the team win promotion to the Eredivisie.

Then, last season, Oristanio helped Volendam retain their top flight status.

Now, Oristanio is aiming to take the next steps within Serie A.

The 20-year-old started in both of Cagliari’s first matches of the season. This included a match against his parent club Inter at the Sardegna Arena.

These were fairly eye-catching performances by Oristanio, who played in a fairly versatile attacking midfield role against Torino before playing on the right side of the pitch against the Nerazzurri.

However, the 20-year-old was unable to score or assist a goal as the Rossoblu failed to score in either of their two opening matches.

Cagliari coach Ranieri dropped Oristanio for the team’s last match before the international break, against Bologna. He came off the bench in that match.

Now, Oristanio is currently with the Italian Under-21 side.

But the Inter-owned midfielder will already be thinking about his return to Cagliari after the break.

Oristanio is keen to regain his starting place right away and prove to Ranieri that he has the end product needed to help keep Cagliari in Serie A.
