Inter Milan are annoyed with the Chile national team over the handling of the fitness of forward Alexis Sanchez.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are not happy to say the least with the prospect of the 34-year-old playing against Colombia during the international break.

Prior to this international break, Inter had urged Sanchez to decline the call-up from Chile.

The reason for this was the player’s fitness.

Sanchez had not been part of Inter’s squad in their final match before the break, against Fiorentina. The Nerazzurri’s plan had been for the player to spent a couple weeks getting up to fitness after joining.

Sanchez had not had a proper preseason after leaving Marseille in the summer. Therefore, the Chilean lacked a bit of match-fitness when he joined Inter.

Moreover, as it has emerged in the past couple days, Sanchez has also had problems with his hemoglobin levels.

These issues appear to be the result of mild anemia.

In any event, Inter have not been surprised about the 34-year-old’s anemia issues. They had already identified these issues during his medicals.

Moreover, Sanchez had had mild anemia problems during his first spell at Inter, while Antonio Conte was coach.

Inter Milan Annoyed With Chile Handling Of Alexis Sanchez Fitness

All in all, the Gazzetta report, Inter have expected a fairly clear plan for Sanchez to get back to full match-fitness.

The aim has been to already have the forward available on the bench against AC Milan next weekend.

But with Sanchez going against the Nerazzurri’s recommendation to be with his national team, the player’s fitness has been taken out of Inter’s control.

The Nerazzurri’s medical staff have attempted to liaise with that of Chile. But they have had limited success.

Therefore, Inter’s attitude regarding the situation has not been positive, to say the least.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Sanchez will also have additional medical tests in midseason to monitor his fitness.
