The muscle injury to Inter Milan wingback Juan Cuadrado is not serious.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are not worrying too much about the Colombian’s muscle injury, but hope to see him return early ahead of the Milan derby.

At the moment, Cuadrado is with the Colombian national team.

The 35-year-old had had to come off at halftime of the team’s World Cup qualifier against Venezuela last week. The reason was a muscular problem in his leg.

However, the Gazzetta report, Inter do not believe the problem is at all serious.

The Nerazzurri’s medical staff have been in contact with those in the Colombian camp. They are confident that Cuadrado can recover quickly.

However, the question could be whether or not Cuadrado will play any part in Colombia’s next match.

Tomorrow evening, Colombia face Chile in their second and final World Cup qualifier of the international break.

Inter are hoping that Cuadrado won’t be in the squad for that match due to his injury.

Inter Milan Hoping To Have Juan Cuadrado Back Early Ahead Of Milan Derby

Whilst Cuadrado’s injury is not serious, there is still a good chance that it will rule him out of tomorrow’s match.

Therefore, Inter are even hoping that he could return early from international duty.

Cuadrado is one of a trio of South American internationals who will be the last players to filter back to training from international duty at Inter.

Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez and forward Alexis Sanchez will both be back on Thursday.

That is the same day that Cuadrado is scheduled to be back.

But if Colombia decide that the 35-year-old won’t be part of the squad to face Chile, Inter could get him back early.

This would come as a boost ahead of the Milan derby against AC Milan next Saturday.
