Inter Milan will earn around €6 million in gate receipts from the derby against AC Milan next Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the match is a sell-out.

It doesn’t come as any great surprise that Saturday’s derby clash has fully sold out.

Matches between Inter and Milan are always expected to be played in front of a packed house.

Last season, the Nerazzurri faced off against the Rossoneri on five occasions – four at the San Siro. And every one of the derbies at the San Siro were sell-outs.

The demand for the final two derby matches of the campaign – two legs of the Champions League semifinal tie – was particularly high.

But even in Serie A, the derby is always a match for which the anticipation is particularly high.

Inter Milan To Earn €6M In Milan Derby Gate Receipts

This season, the first derby of the campaign comes early.

Like last season, the head-to-head match between Inter and Milan comes early in the season. This time around, it arrives right after the September international break.

But if that scheduling could have threatened to rob the match of some momentum, things have worked out differently.

The starts to the season that Inter and Milan have enjoyed to the campaign have set next Saturday’s derby up as a potential title-decider.

In the three matches before the break, only the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri won all three of their matches.

At least one of the two sides’ perfect record will necessarily have to end this weekend.

With Inter the nominal home side at the San Siro, it is the Nerazzurri whose fans will make up the majority of the crowd. And Inter will be the team to collect the gate receipts for the match.

The total revenue for the Nerazzurri will be for around €6 million.

That will hardly be the €12 million that Inter brought in from the second leg of last season’s Champions League semifinal. But it will still be one of the Nerazzurri’s biggest matchday gate receipts of the season.
