Former Sampdoria winger Sergio Volpi feels that Inter Milan are the favourites to win the Serie A title this season.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster 1 Radio Station, via FCInterNews, the former winger gave his predictions on the Serie A title race, naming the Nerazzurri as the team who have the most quality to go on and win the Scudetto.
It is still very early on in the Serie A season.
Just three matches have passed before the start of the September international break.
But so far, there have looked to be some clear trends at the top of the Italian top flight table.
Leading the way are the two Milan teams. Both Inter and AC Milan can boast perfect records of nine points out of nine so far in the campaign.
And the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are on a collision course.
The Milan derby will be next Saturday, so at least one of the two city rivals will lose their perfect record.
Meanwhile, Juventus and Napoli look to be the two teams most closely chasing the Milan sides at the top.
The Bianconeri have enjoyed a positive start to the campaign, winning two and drawing one. And defending champions the Partneopei slipped up just before the break with a home loss to Lazio, but have nevertheless looked capable of retaining their crown.
Meanwhile, Roma and Lazio have endured tough starts to the campaign, even if the latter got a boost from their win over Napoli.
Ex Sampdoria Midfielder Volpi: Inter Milan The Favourites For Serie A Title
Former Sampdoria midfielder Volpi feels that there is a favourite to go on and win the title.
And he feels that it is Inter.
“For me, Inter are the favorites to win the Scudetto,” the former midfielder said.
“But I also wouldn’t overlook either Napoli or Milan.”
“And then you also have to keep an eye on Juventus,” Volpi added. “They can definitely cause problems especially considering they don’t have any midweek commitments.”
“It certainly won’t be a season where one team basically wins it early on in the second half of the season like Napoli last time,” he predicted.
