Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will not be making any wholesale changes to his starting eleven to face Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the Nerazzurri coach will make changes, but not completely rotate his squad for the Champions League group stage opener.
Across Inter’s first four matches of the Serie A season, Inzaghi only made one solitary change.
Defender Francesco Acerbi came into the starting eleven for the Milan derby over this weekend. He took the place of Stefan de Vrij, who’d started the first three matches.
The other ten positions remained identical across all four matches.
But Inzaghi is well aware that changes will have to start coming soon.
The Nerazzurri return to Champions League action this week against Real Sociedad. With the team having to play two matches a week for virtually the rest of the season, Inzaghi will have to start rotating.
But according to the Gazetta, the coach isn’t going to completely chop and change his team just yet.
Inzaghi Won’t Massively Rotate Inter Milan Staring XI Vs Real Sociedad
A couple of summer signings could be looking to make their first start for the Nerazzurri against La Real.
Midfielder Davide Frattesi could aim to start after coming off the bench and scoring against Milan.
And defender Benjamin Pavard could make not just his first start, but his first appearance overall, for the Nerazzurri.
But Inzaghi won’t be shifting the balance of his team too much.
On the contrary, the Gazzetta reports, the coach will mostly stick with players he’s trusted during the team’s first few matches. He doesn’t want to completely change up his team for what is still a very important match.
Against Empoli, rock bottom of the Serie A table with zero points after four matches and coming off the back of a 7-0 demolition by Roma, Inzaghi is ready to make quite a few more changes.
