Premier League referee Michael Oliver will be in charge of Wednesday’s Champions League group stage clash between Real Sociedad and Inter Milan.

This is confirmed by UEFA, via FCInterNews, who also name Stuart Atwell and Ivan Bebek as the VAR team for the match.

On Wednesday, Inter begin their Champions League campaign for another season.

Last time around, of course, the Nerazzurri reached the final of the competition.

It was a memorable season in Europe for Inter. In the knockout stages, they eliminated Porto, Benfica, and city rivals AC Milan to reach the final against Manchester City.

That final ended in heartbreak for the Nerazzurri, as they lost 0-1 to City, missing several good chances to get back into the match.

And now, Inter will be hoping for a similarly memorable season in the Champions League.

Last time around, Inter’s group stage saw them face the “group of death.” Their group contained Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as well as Viktoria Plzen.

This season, Inter’s group doesn’t quite contain the same kind of giants.

However, the Nerazzurri certainly won’t want to underestimate any of Real Sociedad, Red Bull Salzburg, or Benfica.

And on Wednesday, Inter will test themselves against La Real, playing away in San Sebastian.

Michael Oliver To Referee Real Sociedad Vs Inter Milan UCL Clash – Stuart Atwell On VAR

The referee for Wednesday will be experienced English official Michael Oliver.

Assisting Oliver in his duties will be Premier League duo Stuart Burt and Daniel Cook..

The role of the fourth official, meanwhile, will fall to another Englishman, Andrew Madley.

In the VAR booth, Premier League referee Stuart Atwell will oversee the Champions League group stage match.

Assisting Atwell in his duties will be Croatian referee Ivan Bebek.

Inter will be hoping that the focus stays on the action on the pitch rather than refereeing controversy.
