Italian media are looking at Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich as the main challengers to Man City in the Champions League.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, give their Champions League predictions.

For everyone from commentators and pundits to betting markets, it is hard to overlook Manchester City as favourites in this season’s edition of the Champions League.

The Cityzens won the European treble last season.

Pep Guardiola’s side overcame Inter 1-0 in the final, having thrashed the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to get there.

And whilst some important players have departed in the summer, City have also made some eye-catching signings.

City’s start to the season is enough to suggest that they can continue to be English football’s dominant force.

The Cityzens have won each of their five Premier League matches so far. And they have never looked to be in any great degree of jeopardy in so doing.

Therefore, the Gazzetta suggest, City are the team to beat in the Champions League as well.

Inter, Real Madrid & Bayern Challengers To Man City In UCL

In the view of the Gazzetta, Inter are one of the teams who can at lest push City all the way this season.

The Nerazzurri were the team who Pep Guardiola’s team had to beat in last season’s final.

And as Guardiola himself admitted, that final was a huge test for the Cityzens. He compared it to a “coin-flip” as the English champions only won by a narrow 1-0 margin.

And Inter have started this season in the kind of form that looks like a clear statement of intent.

Like City, the Nerazzurri have won every single one of their league matches so far. And they have handed out 4-0 and 5-1 thrashings to Fiorentina and AC Milan respectively.

Another team who have won every one of their league matches thus far are Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have lost Karim Benzema over the summer, but gained Jude Bellingham.

And many members of the core of the team that won the Champions League in 2022 are still present. Even a few veterans of the four successes before that in the past decade remain at the club.

For the Gazzetta, Real are hardly a team to rule out.

And lastly, the newspaper argue, Bayern remain as much a factor as ever.

The Bavarians played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen last Friday. That match was an early indication that Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen team could push Bayern all the way domestically.

But in the Champions League, they could be one of the only teams with the quality and consistency to challenge City.
