Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi still has selection doubts all over the pitch ahead of tomorrow evening’s Champions League opener away to Real Sociedad.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Across Inter’s first four matches of the Serie A season, Inzaghi only made one solitary change.
Defender Francesco Acerbi came into the starting eleven for the Milan derby over this weekend. He took the place of Stefan de Vrij, who’d started the first three matches.
The other ten positions remained identical across all four matches.
But Inzaghi is well aware that changes will have to start coming soon.
The Nerazzurri return to Champions League action this week against Real Sociedad. With the team having to play two matches a week for virtually the rest of the season, Inzaghi will have to start rotating.
Inzaghi is not likely to make wholesale rotations just yet. Tomorrow’s match is hugely significant for Inter as they look to set the tone for their Champions League campaign.
But nor will the coach just keep putting out the same starting eleven over and over again.
Simone Inzaghi Still Has Many Selection Doubts To Face Real Sociedad
According to Tuttosport, Inzaghi has yet to make up his mind definitively in almost any position.
From defense to attack, the coach will carefully consider the balance of his squad.
There are players yet to make their Inter debuts – such as midfielder Davy Klaassen, forward Alexis Sanchez, and defender Benjamin Pavard.
And then there are players who have only played from the bench so far.
These include wingback Carlos Augusto, midfielder Davide Frattesi, and striker Carlos Augusto.
Apart from the notable exceptions of Yann Sommer and Marcus Thuram, Inzaghi has so far mostly trusted players who were already at Inter last season.
But tomorrow that should change. However, Inzaghi is still taking his time considering exactly what changes he will make.
