Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could already be back from injury in Inter Milan’s Serie A clash with Empoli this weekend.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, who report that there is no real worry about the seriousness of the 29-year-old’s injury.

Calhanoglu will not be in Inter’s squad to face Real Sociedad.

The Turkish international stayed behind while the rest of the squad travelled to Spain for the Champions League group stage opener.

The reason for this was that Calhanoglu had suffered a strain to the adductor muscles in his left thigh.

Now, the big question is when Calhanoglu will be able to return. All of this will be based around how serious the midfielder’s injury is.

And according to Sky, there is no worry within Inter about Calhanoglu having a serious muscle problem.

The 29-year-old should be able to return soon. The only question, with Inter having several matches on the way, is in which one.

Hakan Calhanoglu Could Return For Inter In Serie A Clash Vs Empoli

So far this season, Calhanoglu has started every single on of Inter’s matches in Serie A.

The Turkish international has certainly established himself as a key player for the Nerazzurri over the past couple seasons.

From his position at the base of Inter’s midfield trio, Calhanoglu has acted as Inter’s heartbeat, in and out of possession.

Therefore, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will see it as something of a worry that he looks set to have to do without Calhanoglu for at least one match.

But it may only be one match.

Calhanoglu, Sky reports, is only out this evening as a precaution.

Inter’s fixture list is quickly piling up after this evening. So absolutely no one wants to take risks with Calhanoglu’s fitness.

Starting next Sunday, Inter will play three Serie A matches in the space of less than a week.

The first match of that sequence is away to Empoli.

It’s not certain that Calhanoglu will be available for that match. But nor can it be ruled out, Sky anticipates.
