Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi Hails his team’s reaction in the Champions League clash against Real Sociedad.

The Nerazzurri found themselves trailing early on in their Matchday One encounter at San Sebastian. Alessandro Bastoni’s howler gifted the Spaniards the lead.

Nevertheless, Frattesi came off the bench to provide a sublime assist for Lautaro Martinez who snatched the equalizer at the 87th minute. The Beneamata then pushed for a winner but ran out of time.

Despite Inter’s early struggles, the former Sassuolo man saw positive signs from his team. He even suggests that the Italian giants may have deserved a victory.

“The San Sebastian Stadium will be difficult for many big teams,” insists the Italian international in his post-match interview with Inter TV via FcInterNews.

“We did well to recover and we showed that if we play our game, no one can stop us.

“There was a great desire to avoid a defeat and to bring home a positive result given the circumstances.

“The most fundamental thing was the unity shown today. We did not allow ourselves to become disunited.

“We certainly deserved to score the equalizer, and perhaps, in the end, we almost deserved to win it.”

Frattesi also reflected on Inter’s upcoming Serie A contest against Empoli at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.

This week, the Tuscans sacked their coach Paolo Zanetti after four straight defeats and brought back Aurelio Andreazzoli.

“When a team changes coaches, it’s never easy. You can’t analyze previous matches. It will certainly be a difficult encounter.

“We’ll have to start the match like we did last weekend in the Derby, and not like we did today [against Sociedad]”
