Benjamin Pavard is happy that he’s finally made his first start for Inter Milan, even if the team couldn’t win.

Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old gave his reaction to the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 draw away to Real Sociedad in the Champions League, his first ever appearance for his new team.

Pavard joined Inter in the summer, arriving from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Considering that the Frenchman is a World Cup winner and also also won every trophy on offer with Bayern, the expectations surrounding his signing have been high.

Pavard had not played in matches against either Fiorentina or AC Milan despite being on the bench,

But in Inter’s Champions League group stage opener, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi trusted the 27-year-old to start.

It was certainly a trial by fire for Pavard. Inter conceded early on under a siege of early pressure by the Spanish team.

But after that, Pavard and his defensive teammates held out.

And, even if the circumstances were far from a dream start, Pavard is still happy to have finally gotten out onto the pitch in an Inter shirt.

Benjamin Pavard Happy To Have Made Inter Milan Debut

Pavard noted that “In Italian football there’s a lot of aggression. A lot of tactics.”

“I’m very happy to have been able to start today,” he continued.

“It was a very difficult, match but in the end we brought home a good draw.”

“Now we have to recover,” the Frenchman continued.

“The next match is coming up right away, and so we have to recover our energy for that.”

Pavard noted that against La Real, “We suffered, but it was important not to have lost.”

Then, the Inter new boy looked ahead to the Nerazzurri’s match against Empoli.

“Another difficult match awaits us on Sunday,” he said.
