Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could make a swift return from injury this weekend against Empoli.

Earlier this week, the 29-year-old sustained a knock that kept him out of the club’s Champions League encounter against Real Sociedad.

In his absence, the Nerazzurri struggled for most of the San Sebastian Stadium encounter. They conceded an early goal while Yann Sommer prevented additional strikes.

But thanks to a late onslaught, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez snatched a late equalizer that salvaged a point away from home.

So following the uninspiring European display, Simone Inzaghi will be eager to have Calhanoglu back at his disposal as soon as possible.

Luckily for Inter, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) tips the Turkish international to make his recovery in time for this weekend’s Tuscan trip.

The Nerazzurri will take on Empoli at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Sunday’s early Serie A kickoff.

The source believes Calhanoglu could even feature in the starting lineup. Barring any late twists, the midfielder should overcome his muscular problem and make himself available for selection.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Should Have Hakan Calhanoglu At His Disposal For The Empoli Trip

As the report explains, the former AC Milan star showed positive signs yesterday while training separately. Today, he should be able to join his teammates in group training.

If it all goes according to plan, he will receive a call-up and travel with Inzaghi’s squad to Empoli.

On the other hand, Stefano Sensi will be out of the squad after sustaining another injury setback.

As for Juan Cuadrado, the medical staff will evaluate his condition before making a decision. The Colombian missed Wednesday’s European tie through injury.
