Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that midfielders Nicolo Barella and Davide Frattesi are capable of playing together.

The coach gave his thoughts to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after his team’s 1-0 Serie A win over Empoli, also speaking about the injury to striker Marko Arnautovic.

Frattesi made his first start for Inter this afternoon.

And when the 24-year-old came off the pitch during the second half of the match, it was Barella who replaced him.

So far, in six matches, the pair have not started in the same match.

Frattesi and Barell have been on the pitch together at the same time, but not for too long. The two Italian internationals have similar profiles and both mostly play on the right side of midfield.

However, on the other hand, Barella and Frattesi have started matches together for the Italian national team already.

And for his part, Inzaghi sees no issue with getting both of them into the team together.

Simone Inzaghi: No Issues With Barella & Frattesi Playing Together

Asked if there are any issues with playing Frattesi and Barella, Inzaghi replied “Absolutely not.”

“They can do so without any problems.”

“In the past ten days Davide has been dealing with a bit of muscular fatigue,” the coach noted. “I liked the way he applied himself here though.”

“Then, Barella gave us a big hand hand off the bench,” Inzaghi added.

As far as the injury to striker Arnautovic, Inzaghi said that “It’s the one negative point on today.”

“Clearly he’s a top player and we’ll be without him for some time,” the coach lamented. ‘Which is unfortunate, because he’s fit in well in this group.”

As far as equalling a record of Antonio Conte and Helenio Herrera by winning the first five matches of the season, Inzaghi said that “Personal accolades don’t interest me much.”

“I’m interested in the good of the group,” he continued.

Inzaghi noted that “We were up against a team with strong motivation, and we played an excellent match.”

“We should have killed it off earlier, and then when we were down to ten men we had to suffer.”

The Inter coach said that “We had quite a few opportunities to make it 2-0.”

As far as his own status at Inter, Inzaghi observed that “I know that opinions change from match to match. But I’m proud of leading Inter.”

“I know the journey we’ve been on, with me and my staff, in the past two years,” he added.

“We have to look forward. We know that the upcoming matches will be intense and we have to recover our physical and mental energy.”

And of the influence of Hakan Calhanoglu, and Lautaro Martinez Inzaghi said that “Calha was redted in the last match.”

“Lautaro played 65 minutes today in thew best way possible.”

“We have a lot of matches, I have a lot of players to use,” he said. “I need to use squad rotation as a solution.”
