Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has confirmed that wingback Juan Cuadrado has been called up for tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Benfica.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the coach also gave an update on the fitness of midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Inter are now just 24 hours away from playing their second Champions League group stage match of the season.

In the first, the Nerazzurri were not able to get more than a point away to Real Sociedad. And in truth, they scarcely deserved more based on their performance.

Tomorrow, therefore, taking three points will be vital for Inzaghi and his players.

And the Inter coach will be hoping to have as many players as he can to call upon.

In this respect, the update on Cuadrado’s fitness could be heartening.

The Colombian former Juventus and Chelsea wingback has missed several matches with tendinitis. But he should be able to be part of the squad tomorrow, Inzaghi says.

Of Cuadrado’s status, Inzaghi said that “We’ve got Cuadrado back for tomorrow. He completed a training session today so he’ll be called up.”

“Arnautovic, on the other hand, will take more time,” the coach continued.

“And with Frattesi, along with the medical staff we decided not to risk him tomorrow.”

Of the importance of squad rotation, Inzaghi said that “It’s important for us as coaches.”

“We need it to prevent injuries, because the team is playing every 48-72 hours,” he noted.

Regarding his team selection tomorrow, Inzaghi said that “A coach always has selection doubts.”

“That’s the case every day, even moreso when there are such important matches on the way, and so little time between them.”

And Inzaghi called Benfica “A great team.”

“They have top quality, and they play with the same principles as last season,” he added.
