Legendary former Inter Milan striker Roberto Boninsegna feels that he’d rather have Romelu Lukaku than Dusan Vlahovic at the Nerazzurri.

The former striker spoke to Italian broadcaster Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport, via FCInterNews.

This summer saw quite the carousel of strikers in Serie A.

One of the big names in the rotation was 30-year-old Belgian international Lukaku.

It had looked for all the world as though the Belgian would be back at Inter this season.

But the revelation that Lukaku had been negotiating with Juventus behind the Nerazzurri’s back soured his relationship with his former club.

Inter abruptly and angrily pulled the plug on the process of trying to bring Lukaku back.

But Juventus didn’t sign the 30-year-old either. A move for Lukaku from the Bianconeri always seemed as though it would be contingent on a departure of Dusan Vlahovic.

And the Serb stayed put in Turin. Therefore, there was no move to Juventus for Lukakau.

The Belgian ended up joining Roma very late in the summer transfer window.

And it has also left some wondering which team benefited most during a summer of major upheaval.

Boninsegna: Rather Have Lukaku Than Vlahovic At Inter

Boninsegna answered a question regarding whether he’d like to bring Vlahovic to Inter.

“He’s a good player,” he said of the 23-year-old former Fiorentina striker. “But I would leave him to Juventus.”

“He seems a bit moody to me,” the former striker suggested.

“A striker is always going to depend on the chances that the team creates. But to me, he seems a bit too much like he has good days and bad days.”

“He’s good, he’s not timid, but I would have preferred that Lukaku had been back with Lautaro,” Boninsegna argued.

The former striker also gave his thoughts on the matter of whether Inter are overly “dependent” on Lautaro Martinez.

“No team who wins titles is ever completely dependent on just one player,” he said. “With just a couple key players you can’t win anything.”
