Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries has been very impressed by what he’s seen from striker Marcus Thuram.

The Dutchman spoke to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 Champions League win over Benfica, via FCInterNews, also expressing his happiness at assisting the Frenchman for the match’s only goal.

Thuram gave another demonstration of what he brings to Inter yesterday evening in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old got on the scoresheet for the third time wearing the Nerazzurri shirt. And this was the most decisive goal that he’s scored yet.

Thuram settled a vital group stage encounter in which Inter had piled on the pressure and chances in the second half but struggled to break through, whether it was due to profligate finishing or some outstanding saves by the opposition goalkeeper.

Dumfries was the player to assist the Frenchman’s goal.

The 27-year-old former PSV wingback showed his attacking quality to time his run and cut the ball back for Thuram.

Inter Wingback Denzel Dumfries Full Of Praise For Marcus Thuram

After the match, Dumfries remarked that “Thuram is an extraordinary striker.”

“I’m happy to have assisted his goal,” the Dutchman added.

Dumfries stressed that “Today was an important match for us.”

“It was very important given the draw with Real Sociedad,” he observed. “Today we played well.”

He also added that “We could have scored more. But the important thing was getting the win.”

The Dutchman noted that “Playing against Benfica is never easy.”

“They have players who have technical quality. We knew that would be the case from coming up against them last season.”

Inter’s victory takes them to four points in their Champions League group. That is the same number as Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Salzburg sit on three points from the group so far.

And Benfica have yet to record a point in the competition after two defeats.
