Legendary former Juventus and Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini feels that Inter Milan have been the strongest team in Serie A for the past three seasons, but have lacked consistency.

Speaking to Italian news outlet PlanetWin365, via FCInterNews, Chiellini gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri.

After winning the Serie A title in the 2020-21 season, Inter were unsuccessful in the past couple season.

In the 2021-22 season the Nerazzurri finished behind city rivals AC Milan. That title race went down to the last day of the season, with the Rossoneri edging out Inter by just a couple of points.

Meanwhile, last season Inter were miles off the pace of Napoli at the top of the table. Lazio also finished ahead of the Nerazzurri.

This season, Inter have marked themselves out as frontrunners in Serie A once again.

But they have their city rivals to contend with. Milan are at the top of the table along with the Nerazzurri.

Chiellini: Inter Have Been Strongest Team In Serie A Three Seasons Running

For his part, Chiellini feels that Inter are on another level from all the other teams in Serie A at the moment.

Of the Serie A title race, the defender said that “The strongest team for the past three seasons has been Inter.”

“They have lacked a bit of consistency in the league,” he noted.

“But then they’ve found it in the cup competitions.”

The 39-year-old, who currently plays for Los Angeles FC in MLS, noted that “Milan, on the other hand, have great potential.”

“They have three absolutely top-level players in Leao, Maignan, and Theo,” he continued.

“If those players are fit and in form, then they can shift the balance in a season.”

Inte and Milan are both on eighteen points after seven matches. They each have one more match to go before the international break.
