Inter Milan summer signing Carlos Augusto explains why he opted to join the club while hailing his teammate Federico Dimarco.

The 24-year-old signed for the Nerazzurri last summer after making a name for himself at Monza.

The wingback insists that the Beneamata are hellbent on earning their second golden star. He reveals that he used to watch the club on TV while in Brazil.

“Inter always aim to win the Scudetto. We want the second star but also the Coppa Italia and go as far ahead as possible in the Champions League,” said Augusto in his interview with DAZN via FcInterNews.

“Since I’ve been here, I’ve got along well with everyone. My teammates and the coaching staff helped me integrate. I’d be happy to do the same with my teammates.

“I chose Inter because it’s a great team. When I was in Brazil, I used to watch them on TV, playing the Champions League. I made the right choice.”

The Brazilian talks about his sensations while making his debut for the Nerazzurri. He also confirms that the group acts like one big family.

“On my debut against Monza, even when I was on the bench, I could see the massive crowds at San Siro. Everything was extraordinary. I will always remember that match.

Frattesi is the teammate that I’m the closest to. We played together in Monza and when the news came out that I was about to join Inter, he texted me immediately.

“I was surprised when I arrived. This team is practically a family, everyone helps each other out. This is why we’re doing well.”

“Simone Inzaghi is a coach who helps you grow, and is always close to you. He’s always talking to us and keeps the group together. I can develop under his guidance.

Inter Milan Wingback Carlos Augusto Named His Teammate Federico Dimarco As Best Left-Back In The World

Augusto reveals that his first steps in football were rather difficult. He was even willing to quit at one point.

“I wasn’t one of those kids who dreamed of becoming footballers. I was poor at school, then I told my father that I wanted to learn to play a little so my classmates would leave me alone. He put me in a football school and I went to Corinthians for 11 years.”

“The first few times I went to the football school, I told my father that I wanted to quit. Then after a break, I came back and things went well naturally.

The 24-year-old spoke about his admiration for his compatriot Roberto Carlos, while hailing his teammate Federico Dimarco as the best left-back in the world.

“Roberto Carlos was devastating. I was very young when he played at Inter. I observed Marcelo more carefully. But I watched all the Brazilians who played for Inter: Roberto Carlos, Adriano, Ronaldo and Julio Cesar.

“The competition with Dimarco? I think it’s good for both of us, he’s doing very well, he’s a great footballer, we always talk. He’s the best left-back in the world.

“I want to help the team, be ready and when there’s an opportunity take advantage of it.”

The Nerazzurri star named Neymar as the player he’d like to swap shirts with. Although he holds Italian citizenship, Augusto revealed his desire to represent Brazil at the international level.
