Wingback Carlos Augusto is the only Inter Milan player to emerge with much credit after yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Bologna.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, give the 24-year-old a score of 6.5/10 in the player ratings for the match.

Augusto was one of the three players who Inter coach Simone Inzaghi threw on shortly after Bologna equalized yesterday.

The likes of Juan Cuadrado and Alexis Sanchez also came on.

Clearly, the Inter coach was determined to add some fresh legs and new ideas in attack. The Nerazzurri had lost their momentum following a fast start to the match.

And the two veteran players did not really offer much, in truth.

The Gazzetta give Cuadrado a score of 5.5/10 and Sanchez a 5/10 grade. Apart from a few good touches here and there, neither were able to use their experience and undeniable quality to unlock the match as Inter desperately searched for a goal.

Augusto, on the other hand, did look like the player most likely to do so.

Carlos Augusto Praised For Substitute Appearance In Inter Vs Bologna Draw

Inter did not managed to score when Augusto was on the pitch.

However, the Nerazzurri came closest when the Brazilian was involved.

As Federico Dimarco had started to cut a bit of a tired figure, Augusto gave the team a real boost of energy down the left flank.

The 24-year-old showed his ability to get past his marker with sheer pace.

And Augusto’s energy up and down the pitch were very useful in bringing coherency to Inter’s team shape.

It was the Brazilian who provided the cross for Alexis Sanchez’s disallowed goal. The Chilean may have been offside, but the delivery from Augusto was worth a goal.

And the Brazilian also had a decent attempt on target.

Whereas the bigger names like Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Lautaro Martinez looked like shadows of themselves, Augusto was able to shine even in difficult circumstances.
