Inter Milan are “dreaming” of signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez during the January transfer window.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 22-year-old is one of the names that the Nerazzurri have on their list of possible attacking reinforcements.

Inter are beginning to seriously think about making another attacking soon.

An injury to former Bologna and West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic has seriously exposed the Nerazzurri’s lack of attacking depth.

Even when the Austrian is fit, there are questions about Inter’s attacking options.

What does look clear is that Inter will not pursue any free transfer opportunities in the next few weeks as an emergency replacement for Arnautovic.

The Nerazzurri will wait patiently for Arnautovic to recover.

But with questions about both the 34-year-old’s fitness and the quality of the attacking options, Inter could well intervene in January.

And they could have a particular strategy in mind.

Inter Milan “Dreaming” Of Feyenoord Breakout Star Santiago Gimenez

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are not necessarily just going to go for a veteran to bridge the gap in attack if they move in Januiary.

The Nerazzurri already have a couple of those in Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez.

Rather, Inter would look to genuinely strengthen their squad. For the present, and especially for the future.

Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic is one player who is very much on the Nerazzurri’s list in this respect.

However, the sense remains that prising the Montenegrin from the Giallorossi in midseason would be very difficult.

But Gimenez is a player who Inter could fancy making a move for.

The 22-year-old has had a blazing start to the current season. He has found the back of the net twelve times in just eight Eredivise matches.

Of course, there is the issue of the price tag.

Feyenoord are not likely to let such an in-form player go for cheap.

But Inter would seriously consider a move, the Gazzetta report. If they can make it work, they would consider the Mexican international to be nothing short of a “dream” signing to strengthen the squad.
