Inter Milan are considering January moves for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi or Chelsea striker Armando Broja.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who name the pair as possible targets for the Nerazzurri who could look to bolster their attack during the January transfer window.
Inter’s attacking depth has looked to be an issue over the first few weeks of the season.
Captain Lautaro Martinez has been free-scoring more than ever, with eleven goals from ten matches between Serie A and the Champions League.
And Marcus Thuram has fit in exceptionally well.
But whilst Thuram has proved an inspired signing, the other two summer arrivals have been much less so.
Former Stoke City and West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic got off to a middling start following his summer arrival from Bologna. And then the 34-year-old picked up a thigh injury which is likely to rule him out until November.
And so far Alexis Sanchez has yet to score or assist a goal.
The Chilean has been unavailable to replicate his form from Marseille last season.
Therefore, the Gazzetta report, Inter could decide to intervene in the market in January.
Inter Considering Mehdi Taremi Or Armando Broja Moves
One possibility always on the table for Inter would be a move for Porto’s Mehdi Taremi.
The Nerazzurri had targeted the Iranian international during the summer transfer window.
And the Gazzetta confirms that they would seriously consider going back in for him in January.
A lot would depend on Porto’s willingness to go down on their asking price for Taremi. The 31-year-old’s contract with the Portuguese giants expires at the end of next June, meaning January could be their final opportunity to cash in.
Another possibility would be a loan move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja.
The Gazzetta note that the Albanian has been on Inter’s radar since his loan move at Vitesse during the 2020-21 season.
According to the newspaper, the main factor would likely be Broja’s playing time at Chelsea over the next few months.
If the 22-year-old is starting regularly he isn’t likely to want to leave. And Chelsea would not want to loan him out.
But on the other hand, if Broja is not a regular in the team, the Blues could be amenable to a loan move.
And the Gazzetta notes that relations between Inter and Chelsea remain strong. The debacle surrounding the failed transfer of Romelu Lukaku to the Nerazzurri in the summer has done little to sour the two clubs’ rapport.
