Inter Milan corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello downplays the new San Siro project while revealing his enthusiasm about the stadium project in Rozzano.

The Nerazzurri, along with AC Milan. were looking to demolish the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and build a modern venue in its stead.

But in recent months, Milano’s Superintendent placed an impediment on the San Siro Stadium due to its historic and cultural importance. This proved to be a deadly blow for the two clubs’ project.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are now planning to build their own stadium in the Rozzano region while the Rossoneri will do likewise in San Donato.

Nevertheless, the mayor of Milano Giuseppe Sala is trying to convince the two clubs to renovate the San Siro.

However, Antonello explains that mere ideas are not enough for the club to consider this proposal.

“There has been no renunciation of the open procedure at San Siro. In the last four years, we made ourselves available to satisfy the needs of the Municipality,” said the Inter CEO in an interview with Sky Sport via FcInterNews.

“The time aspect is important. We have been waiting for answers for four years. In the last few days. Ideas are not enough.

“We need formal documents that can give us guarantees, and today, we still don’t have them.

“The renovation of San Siro was never in our plans The fact that the Superintendent anticipated this possibility by establishing a restriction on the second ring radically changes the initial project idea.

“In November, Milan announced that they wanted to leave San Siro, so we declared that we’re ready to build our own stadium in Rozzano.

“It means a new challenge towards the future, we are enthusiastic about it. We are building the new home and we will ask the fans what it should be like.”
