The mayor of Rozzano Giovanni Ferretti reveals the construction work for Inter Milan’s new stadium could begin towards the end of 2024.
Following the collapse of the new San Siro project, the Nerazzurri and AC Milan have now gone in separate directions. Each club is now looking to build its own ground in a different location.
The Rossoneri have identified San Donato as a suitable location for their plans, whereas Inter will build their new home in the region of Rozzano.
The Beneamata have accelerated their work on this front and are making significant progress.
As we reported earlier today, the club’s new stadium has received initial authorization from the municipality of Rozzano.
For his part, Mayor Giovanni Rossi revealed some of the details of this enormous project.
“We knew about the negotiations between Inter and Cabassi, but it was still unofficial, so much so that it was kept confidential,” explained Ferretti in an interview with Sky Sport via FcInterNews.
“Inter made an official request for pre-emption. Then they came to the municipality to learn about the processes and the required steps.
Rozzano Mayor Giovanni Ferretti Expects Construction Work To Begin For Inter Milan Next Stadium Between 2024 and 2025
“Inter wanted to include the word “stadium” in the authorization. A stadium requires police forces in the area. We must also move the subway. It’s a seven or eight-minute walk from the metro to the project area.
“We have given the authorization, now it will take 60 days for it to become effective [after the official publication].
“If I’m going to be optimistic, I expect the construction work to begin at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.”
